Helene Faradji
Self-taught in photography, I have always loved capturing significant moments of my life—family gatherings, vacations, travels—to preserve memories.
During my career as a Research Director at CNRS “National Center for Scientific Research”, I spent 13 months in the heart of the Antarctic continent on a scientific mission. This extraordinary adventure in a unique, magical, and enchanting world was the catalyst for my current photographic journey.
Back in Lyon, I held my first photo exhibition in 2015, accompanied by an interview on the France 3 news set. Youtube
I enrolled in photography workshops to acquire technical skills and, more importantly, a photographic culture through presentations on photographers and exhibition visits. I learned to showcase and select my images, building coherent series for collective exhibitions. I confronted others' perspectives to shape my own practice and make progress. I draw inspiration from the great masters (Willy Ronis, Elliott Erwitt, Edward Hopper, Franco Fontana…) to find what moves me in their photos.
I regularly attend festivals such as Les Rencontres d'Arles, the International Wildlife Photo Festival in Montier-en-Der, the Montpellier Photographic Encounters, and the World Press Photo Festival in Montreal. I visit Lyon's art galleries like Vrais Rêves, Le Réverbère, and Le Bleu du Ciel to immerse myself in the incredible diversity of talent.
In my work, I do not limit myself to a single style. I photograph whatever catches my eye, without restriction—street photography, architectural photography, wildlife photography...
I see photography as a creative pursuit, a means of expression that engages my mind and sensitivity, making my inner vision visible.
Here, I will present my series "Contours & Couleurs," which features a unique visual style that challenges traditional representations.
